History

GASP! Dance Collective was co-founded in 2014 by Miriam Marler and Hahna Briggs. Miriam and Hahna collaborated with local dancers to bring contemporary dance classes and interdisciplinary performance to Dunedin. GASP! Dance Collective have performed at the Dunedin Fringe Festival, The Body Festival (Christchurch) and The Undercover Festival (Brisbane).

Right now Gasp! Dance Collective are focusing their efforts on establishing inclusive dance in Dunedin. Inclusive dance is dance for all abilities, including people with and without disabilities. Hahna Briggs, alongside local dancers Jenny Newstead, Catherine Schroeder and Hannah Jean Rouse teach the GASP!  Dance Inclusive classes.

GASP! Dance Inclusive are currently working on a dance film, kindly funded by the DCC Creative Communities scheme and are looking forward to presenting at the Leap Dance Symposium at the University of Otago in November, 2019.
